More speakers announced for Creative Citizens Fair: Bearwood Promoters

June 9th, 2015 by Jennie Sandford in Showcase | no comments

We’d like to introduce the third organisation that will be speaking at our Creative Citizens Fair - , represented by Craig Goodall and Matt Taylor.

Music fans Craig and Matt put on free gigs in a 19th century bandstand in Sandwell’s Lightwoods Park with a group of fellow volunteers. Operating on a shoestring budget and relying heavily on a bucket collection at the end of each event, they have been bringing live music to their diverse community for the last 4 years. Mixing things up with music from any genre - hence the name - the events give local bands and artists a chance to perform to new audiences and allow many people, who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity, access to free, live music in the heart of their community.

Craig and Matt will be talking about founding and sustaining a not-for-profit voluntary group and how they successfully involve partners and the wider community in their activities. If you’re inspired and fancy doing something similar in your area, there’ll be plenty of time for questions at the end of their slot.

More details of the event are on our home page.

There are still a few tickets left for the Fair on June 27th – if you’d like to join us.
